Problem

  1. VECV operates the Eicher truck manufacturing plant at Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh.
  2. To meet production goals, machines operate continuously with limited cooling time, causing heat buildup on the factory floor.
  3. High temperatures inside the factory increase health risks for employees and can negatively affect equipment performance.
  4. To improve working conditions and reduce heat, the company decided to install HVLS fans.

Solution

  • Installed 3 × Epoch 2.0 16-ft HVLS Fans with the following specifications:
    • Motor : Epoch 2.0
    • Coverage Area : 12,000 Sq. Ft. (1,114 Sq. m)
    • Speed : 95 RPM
    • Peak Power : 1.1 kW / 1.5 hp
  • The 16-ft diameter five-bladed fan provides efficient air circulation and cost-effective cooling.

Site Survey

A site survey is mandatory before any HVLS fan recommendation. The survey revealed the following dimensions:

  • Total Area : 250 ft × 40 ft = 10,000 Sq. Ft.
  • Floor to Ceiling Distance : 24 – 27 ft
  • Recommended Fan Size : 16-ft HVLS fan

Test Reports

Power Consumption Report

Power consumption captures both real and apparent power. Epoch HVLS fans feature active power factor correction and near-unity power factor. Power measured at 55, 65, 75, 85 and 95 RPM was 390 W, 380 W, 690 W, 850 W and 990 W respectively.

Input Current Report

Input current measured at 55, 65, 75, 85 and 95 RPM was 1.8 A, 2.6 A, 3.0 A, 3.9 A and 4.8 A respectively. Input voltage during testing varied between 230 V and 240 V.

Air Flow Report

Airflow measured from the center of the fan up to 27 ft distance. Recorded values were 216, 334, 354, 480, 492, 330, 210, 236 and 220 ft/min at distances of 3,6,9,12,15,18,21,24 and 27 ft respectively.
