Product
- Epoch 14-ft 5-Blades 120 RPM HVLS Fan with Epoch 2.0 Motor and Controller – 90Nm / 1.1kW / 1.5 hp
Problem
- Seoyon Electronics India Pvt Ltd is a leading manufacturer of automotive products including smart key systems and key sets from Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India.
- In humid and hot climates, building operators struggle to cool down large open spaces. Extra ventilation with temperature control is needed during both summer and winter months.
- The wall mounted fans installed at the facility could not provide sufficient airflow and were also noisy.
- The company therefore looked for a new solution to improve airflow while reducing noise levels.
Solution
- Epoch 2.0 14-ft HVLS fans (02 units) were installed with the following specifications:
- Motor : Epoch 2.0
- Coverage Area : 8,000 Sq. Ft. (743 Sq. m)
- Speed : 120 RPM
- Peak Power : 1.1 kW / 1.5 hp
- Epoch 2.0 14-ft fans provide excellent airflow and airflow efficiency for industrial environments.
Site Survey
A site survey is mandatory before any HVLS fan recommendation. The survey revealed the following dimensions:
- Total Area : 98 ft × 66 ft = 6,468 Sq. Ft.
- Floor to Ceiling Distance : 20 – 24 ft
- Rule of thumb : Distance / 1.5 ≈ fan diameter
- Selected Fan Size : 14-ft HVLS fan
Test Reports
Three test reports are collected for each fan installation.
Power Consumption Report
Power consumption captures both real and apparent power. Epoch HVLS fans feature active power factor correction and near-unity power factor. Power measured at 20, 40, 60, 80, 100 and 120 RPM was 414 W, 493 W, 591 W, 653 W, 690 W and 775 W respectively.
Input Current Report
Input current measured at 20, 40, 60, 80, 100 and 120 RPM was 2 A, 2.4 A, 2.9 A, 3 A, 3.1 A and 3.4 A respectively. Input voltage during testing varied between 230 V and 240 V.
Air Flow Report
Airflow was measured from the center of the fan at every 3-ft distance up to 30-ft. Recorded airflow values were 370, 410, 460, 500, 590, 520, 420, 380, 310 and 210 ft/min.
