  • Lowest Weight
  • Active Power Factor Corrected

Industry

  • Industrial

Location

  • India

Product

  • Epoch 24-ft 5-Blades 62 RPM HVLS Fan with Epoch 3.0 Motor and Controller – 170Nm / 1.5kW / 2.0 hp

Problem

  1. Precision Engineering Industries is one of the top suppliers of Hand & Allied Tools in India. The company is located in Faridabad, Haryana, which is one of the hottest regions in India.
  2. The shop shade is made of steel and is compact from all sides.
  3. Because of this construction, proper ventilation inside the shop is not available and workers operating machinery feel uncomfortable.
  4. During summer conditions, heat stroke and heat stress affect workers and reduce productivity.
  5. To improve worker comfort, Precision Engineering Industries decided to install HVLS fans in their shop.

Solution

  • Epoch 3.0 24-ft HVLS fans were installed with the following specifications:
    • Motor : Epoch 3.0
    • Coverage Area : 30,000 Sq. Ft. (2,787 Sq. m)
    • Speed : 62 RPM
    • Peak Power : 1.5 kW / 2 hp
  • Epoch 3.0 24-ft fans are very popular for industrial environments due to their high airflow efficiency and massive air movement.

Site Survey

A site survey is mandatory before any HVLS fan recommendation. The survey revealed the following dimensions:

  • Total Area : 167.5 ft × 116.6 ft = 19,530 Sq. Ft.
  • Floor to Ceiling Distance : 35 – 40 ft
  • Rule of thumb : Distance / 1.5 ≈ fan diameter
  • Selected Fan Size : 24-ft HVLS fan

Test Reports

Three test reports are collected for each fan installation.

Power Consumption Report

Power consumption report captures both real and apparent power. Epoch HVLS fans feature active power factor correction and near-unity power factor. Power measured at 23, 32, 42, 52 and 62 RPM was 118 W, 198 W, 390 W, 722 W and 1050 W respectively.

Input Current Report

Input current measured at 12, 22, 32, 42, 52 and 62 RPM was 0.62 A, 0.87 A, 1.94 A, 3.18 A and 4.95 A respectively. Input voltage during testing varied between 230 V and 240 V.

Air Flow Report

Airflow was measured from the center of the fan at every 3-ft distance up to 30-ft. Recorded airflow values were 190, 260, 310, 400, 420, 490, 460, 390, 360 and 335 ft/min.
