Problem
- The warehouse had a large area with roof height of 9–10 meters and very low insulation, with no window openings.
- During day shifts, when the outside temperature was already high in summer, the internal environment became even hotter.
- Employees working in the warehouse received fresh air only through roof ventilation during intense summer heat, causing discomfort and reduced productivity.
- Heat stress and overheating during summer became a major concern for the facility manager because employee satisfaction and comfort were important.
Solution
- Epoch 3.0 24-ft HVLS fans (02 units) were installed with the following specifications:
- Motor : Epoch 3.0
- Coverage Area : 30,000 Sq. Ft. (2,787 Sq. m)
- Speed : 62 RPM
- Peak Power : 1.5 kW / 2 hp
- Epoch 3.0 24-ft HVLS fans provide massive airflow and excellent airflow efficiency for large warehouse environments.
Site Survey
A site survey is mandatory before any HVLS fan recommendation. The survey revealed the following dimensions:
- Total Area : 184 ft × 105 ft = 19,320 Sq. Ft.
- Floor to Ceiling Distance : 35 – 40 ft
- Rule of thumb : Distance / 1.5 ≈ fan diameter
- Selected Fan Size : 24-ft HVLS fan
Test Reports
Three test reports are collected for each fan installation.
Power Consumption Report
Power consumption captures both real and apparent power. Epoch HVLS fans feature active power factor correction and near-unity power factor. Power measured at 12, 22, 32, 42, 52 and 62 RPM was 80 W, 118 W, 198 W, 390 W, 720 W and 1060 W respectively.
Input Current Report
Input current measured at 12, 22, 32, 42, 52 and 62 RPM was 0.41 A, 0.62 A, 0.87 A, 1.96 A, 3.98 A and 4.9 A respectively. Input voltage during testing varied between 230 V and 240 V.
Air Flow Report
Airflow was measured from the center of the fan at every 3-ft distance up to 48-ft. Recorded airflow values were 290, 310, 420, 485, 559, 543, 510, 592, 498, 480, 400, 430, 390, 390, 310 and 220 ft/min.
