Product

  • Epoch 24-ft 5-Blades 62 RPM HVLS Fan with Epoch 3.0 Motor and Controller - 170Nm / 1.5kW / 2.0hp

Problem

  1. BIC Cello is a manufacturer of writing instruments and they have many employees working in the assembly and retail areas.
  2. There was very little air movement due to the large number of workers in the space, which caused the temperature to rise. Workers in this area were not comfortable.
  3. Due to this working atmosphere, the productivity of employees decreased, which affected the growth of the industry.
  4. Since air comfort is a very important factor, the branch head tried to improve airflow in the area so that workers could work with better efficiency.

Solution

  • Epoch 3.0, 24-ft – 05 Fans installed with the following specifications:
  • Motor : Epoch 3.0
  • Coverage Area : 30,000 Sq. Ft. (2,787 Sq. m)
  • Speed : 62 RPM
  • Peak Power : 1.5 kW / 2 hp
  • Epoch 3.0 24-ft fans are among the most popular HVLS fans with excellent airflow and airflow efficiency.
Site Survey

A site survey is mandatory before any HVLS fan recommendation. The survey revealed the following dimensions:

  • Total Area : 393 ft × 98 ft = 38,514 Sq. ft
  • Floor to Ceiling Distance : 35 – 40 ft
  • Fan Diameter Rule : Distance / 1.5 gives approximate fan diameter
  • Recommended Fan : 24-ft HVLS Fan
Site Measurements
Test Reports

Three test reports are collected for each fan installation as follows:

Power Consumption Report

Power consumption report captures both real and apparent power. Epoch HVLS fans are equipped with active power factor correction and unity power factor.

Therefore the Watts (real power) and VARs (apparent power) are nearly identical.

Power was measured at speeds of 12, 23, 32, 42, 52 and 62 RPM.

Recorded power values were 81 W, 118 W, 188 W, 390 W, 720 W and 1152 W respectively.

Excel trend lines were also used to account for measurement variations as fan power consumption follows known mathematical models.

Input Current Report

Input current was measured at 12, 23, 32, 42, 52 and 62 RPM.

Recorded current values were 0.404 A, 0.57 A, 0.92 A, 1.93 A, 3.15 A and 5.11 A respectively.

Input voltage varied between 230 V and 240 V during measurement.

Air Flow Report

Airflow was measured from the center of the fan and recorded every 3 ft up to 24 ft.

Recorded airflow values were 275, 295, 334, 411, 492, 413, 393 and 334 ft/min at distances of 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21 and 24 ft respectively.
