Key Facts

Benefits

  • Direct Drive PMSM Motor
  • Lowest Weight
  • Active Power Factor Corrected

Industry

  • Industrial

Location

  • India

Product

  • Epoch 16-ft 5-Blades 95 RPM HVLS Fan with Epoch 2.0 Motor and Controller – 140Nm / 1.1kW / 1.5 hp

Problem

  1. Astra Concrete Products manufactures concrete spacers used in construction applications.
  2. The production facility includes mixers and machinery powered by electric motors.
  3. During operation these machines generate heat, which increases the temperature inside the facility.
  4. Excessive heat and humidity on the shop floor reduce worker comfort and productivity.

Solution

  • Epoch 2.0 16-ft HVLS fan installed with the following specifications:
    • Motor : Epoch 2.0
    • Coverage Area : 12,000 Sq. Ft. (1,114 Sq. m)
    • Speed : 95 RPM
    • Peak Power : 1.1 kW / 1.5 hp
  • The Epoch 16-ft five-bladed HVLS fan provides cost-effective cooling and massive air movement across the facility.

Site Survey

A site survey is mandatory before any HVLS fan recommendation. The survey revealed the following dimensions:

  • Total Area : 164 ft × 49 ft = 8,036 Sq. Ft.
  • Floor to Ceiling Distance : 24 – 27 ft
  • Rule of thumb : Distance / 1.5 ≈ fan diameter
  • Selected Fan Size : 16-ft HVLS fan

Test Reports

Three test reports are collected for each fan installation.

Power Consumption Report

Power consumption captures both real and apparent power. Epoch HVLS fans feature active power factor correction and near-unity power factor. Power measured at 55, 65, 75, 85 and 95 RPM was 390 W, 460 W, 575 W, 790 W and 940 W respectively.

Input Current Report

Input current measured at 55, 65, 75, 85 and 95 RPM was 2.2 A, 2.8 A, 3.2 A, 3.9 A and 4.6 A respectively. Input voltage during testing varied between 230 V and 240 V.

Air Flow Report

Airflow was measured from the center of the fan at every 3-ft distance up to 30-ft. Recorded airflow values were 511, 531, 551, 492, 472, 492, 511, 413, 344 and 394 ft/min.
