Problem
- ALUFIT manufactures products including curtain walls, glazing systems, aluminum composite cladding, louvers, skylights, canopies, doors and window frames.
- Temperatures in Tamil Nadu are extremely high during summer, causing severe ventilation and heat stress problems inside the shop.
- Shop technicians experience discomfort due to heat stress and machinery performance is affected by high ambient temperatures.
- The shop lacks proper air ventilation and HVAC systems are costly and inefficient for very large industrial spaces.
Solution
- Installed 2 × Epoch 2.0 24-ft HVLS Fans with the following specifications:
- Motor : Epoch 2.0
- Coverage Area : 25,000 Sq. Ft. (2,323 Sq. m)
- Speed : 52 RPM
- Peak Power : 1.1 kW / 1.5 hp
- The 24-ft Epoch HVLS fans provide excellent airflow efficiency and large-area cooling.
Site Survey
A site survey is mandatory before any HVLS fan recommendation. The survey revealed the following dimensions:
- Total Area : 60 m × 35 ft = 2,100 Sq. m
- Floor to Ceiling Distance : 35 – 40 ft
- Fan size selected : 24-ft HVLS fan
Test Reports
Power Consumption Report
Power consumption captures both real and apparent power. Epoch HVLS fans feature active power factor correction ensuring both values are nearly identical. Power measured at 18, 28, 38, and 48 RPM is 560 W, 690 W, 810 W and 960 W respectively.
Input Current Report
Input current measured at 18, 28, 38 and 48 RPM was 1.9 A, 2.6 A, 3.8 A and 4.6 A respectively. Input voltage during testing varied from 230 to 240 V.
Air Flow Report
Airflow measured from the fan center up to 30-ft distance. Values recorded were 145, 220, 349, 417, 503, 521, 454, 433, 372 and 259 ft/min at distances of 3,6,9,12,15,18,21,24,27 and 30 ft respectively.
